Chocolate Loaf Cake

  • 1 stick Butter (room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 1 1/4 cup Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 cup Cocoa
  • pinch of Salt
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips (optional)


Preheat over to 350 deg F. Prepare a 9x5 loaf pan with parchment paper and/or cooking spray.

In a medium-to-large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla extract and milk. Continue mixing until well blended. Mixture should be watery.

Sift in flour, baking powder, cocoa and salt. Fold with a spatula until well blended.

Pour mixture into loaf pan up to 3/4 full. Add chocolate chips on top if desired.

Bake for 60-70 minutes. To be sure that cake is done, poke it with a toothpick. Cake is done if toothpick comes out clean.

Cool for at least 10 minutes before removing from the loaf. Cut and serve.
