Chocolate Nutella Macaroons

Chocolate Nutella Macaroons. Yum!!!

Easy Chocolate Nutella Macaroons Recipe

For the Macaroons:
  • 3/4 cup almond flour
  • 1 cup of confectioners sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 extra large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup superfine sugar

Directions:

Place almond flour, confectioners' sugar, and cocoa powder in a food processor and process for 15 seconds. Sift the mixture into a bowl.

Place egg whites in a large bowl and whip until holding soft peaks. Gradually beat in the superfine sugar to make a firm, glossy meringue.

Using a spatula, fold the almond mixture into the meringue. When all dry ingredients are thoroughly incorporated, continue to cut and fold the mixture until it forms a shiny batter with a thick, ribbonlike consistency.

Pour batter into pastry bag fitting with a 1/2 in/1 cm plain round tip. Pipe onto parchment lined baking sheets. To flatten out any peaks dip your finger into water and gently fix them to have a flattened top.

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F and let your macarons sit for 30 mins.

Put macaroons in oven and bake for 10 - 15 minutes. Set aside to cool.

For the Buttercream (source: chef-in-training.com)
  • 1/2 one 13 ounce jar of nutella brand hazelnut spread
  • 1 stick of butter, softened
  • 2 cups of powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup of milk (more or less to reach desired consistency)

Cream butter with nutella and then slowly add the powdered sugar. Add milk slowly, until desired consistency is reached.

Assemble by spreading buttercream on the macaroons and making a sandwich. Serve and enjoy!
